All about little old me

43 years old, one wonderful daughter and husband. I love craft, card making, scrapbooking, jewellery making, altered art. I been crafting for about 8 years or so and moving house 6 years ago allowed me the space of my own craftroom. (Much to the annoyance of my husband!)

Yes, I've been sewing well sort of??!!

Now anyone who knows me will know that I cannot sew for toffee, never have been interested in it or been able to do it neatly ever. I think it may have something to do with a school teacher who had no patience what so ever with me when I was about 11, that's my theory anyway. My Mum can sew, so can my Daughter but me totally skipped my generation, anyhoo I spotted on a blog a week or so ago some hair slides made with felt and thought I'll give that a go. So here's what I bought to try and create with....

So there's hair slides from several different places on ebay, the little storage box has some bead caps and different jewellery findings in it bargain at £2.99 from ebay, more Ribbon tags from My Mum's craft shop at a much better price thanks to the lady who pointed me in the direction of that, some Basic Grey fabric charms (didn't know they were called that til I went searching for fat quarters and found smaller bits, everyday's a school day!) these were from 'The Fat Quarters', bit disappointed with the colours really, my own fault saw basic grey, got excited and just ordered. And lastly some felt from 'Paper and String' great service from this lady and all these places ordered Wednesday evening received yesterday, Excellent!
So here's what I made last night with a bit of help from the cat?!!

Sorry about the picture quality I took them on my phone with rubbish light! And finally here's a couple picture of my handy helper who decide to try and sleep on all my stuff as usual after a little dora the explorer into ribbon world!

Have a wicked Saturday.

  1. I think you need to have a readjustment in the thought that you can not sew! bThey look lovely to me. Keep going it will get easier and easier. A friend gave me a tip about blanket stitching!! To get a really finish make the height of the stitch exactly the same measurement as the gap between the stitches-- It really helps.
    Kindest Regards Linda
